Computerised Risk Assessment Tool for Events (Version Number 2.01)

You can get free risk assesment on levels of medical or first aid cover by contacting the office.

This Risk Assessment tool was developed from the Risk Assessment Tables in Chapter 22 of the Health & Safety Event Safety Guide. It is designed to give an estimate of the staffing levels required and shouldn't be considered a definitive list of staff.

The details of your event should be entered into each tab in turn, the risk assessment score and staffing levels are automatically updated in the results tab. Alerts may be given for certain combinations, these alerts appear once per visit to the page unless you press the reset button or cancel.

Raw Data

Adding Raw data should be approached with caution, incorrectly formatted data can cause unexpected results. If you are creating strings from scratch the string should be laid out according to the following rules:

  • Each item must end with a full stop . to seperate each item.
  • The first item is the CRATE version number that the string applies to. IT MUST BE CORRECT.
  • The rest of the string refers to the questions in the CRATE.
  • Each question must have an answer, do not miss any questions out.
  • Drop down menus must contain a number, refering to the menu choice, starting at zero.
  • Checkboxes must be either true or false depending on whether they should be checked.
  • When adding Raw Data, if there are conflicts a warning will be made.

Help

The Event, Venue and the Other tabs contain drop down menus and checkboxes which you use to describe your event.

The Results tab has a text box which will display a suggested staffing level and risk assessment score. These will change automatically when you change information in the Event, Venue, Other and the Advanced tabs.

The Advanced tab displays error and conflict codes, displays raw data strings and allows raw data strings to be inputted into the CRATE. Changing settings in this tab can cause changes to the details you have entered in other tabs.
